Satisfy Your Thirst with This Refreshing Strawberry Drink Recipe

I’ve said it before, strawberries are some of my favourite berries. I kid you not, I love them, lol. If they’re available, I’ll be eating them or using them in something like my strawberry jam or strawberry lemon loaf. I went berry picking the other day and managed to grab some delicious strawberries and ended up making this very refreshing summer drink. If you’re like me, then most of the time, strawberries don’t make it past a few days in my house. When that happens, I try to find uses for the remaining strawberries. You know, the ones that aren’t too pretty or starting to look old and tired, lol. Everything has a purpose, and just because they are older doesn’t mean they can’t be useful.

This drink was trial and error for me as I made it once before and didn’t quite get the taste I was looking for. My first try was filled with too much pulp, which is why I settled on the method I am sharing with you today. All you need are a few simple ingredients, and you’ll be enjoying a very refreshing drink perfect for hot days.

What You’ll Need

  • 2-3 Fresh strawberries (honestly frozen works as well but I used fresh)
  • 1tbsp water
  • 1tbsp Sugar- use sweetener of choice
  • 1-2 leaves Mint (personal preference)
  • Carbonated water (regular water is fine)
  • Ice

How To Make It

  • Make a puree with strawberries and water. When doing this step, blend the strawberries first to see how smooth the puree is before adding water. Strawberries do have a large water content, so you may not need the full tablespoon of water. You just need the strawberry puree to be smooth.
  • Once puree is at a very smooth consistency add a tablespoon of sugar. Here you can use the sweetener of choice. I only had sugar so that is what I used. Sometimes strawberries can be super sweet which means you will use less sugar, but other times help is needed. You be the judge of that.
  • Also, add mint leaves to the puree and crush them to release mint flavour into the puree. Use more or fewer leaves depending on the intensity of the mint flavour you are looking for.
  • Pour puree into your glass add ice then your carbonated water and stir.

Things To Note

  • I have a soda stream at home because I found myself buying carbonated water constantly. With the soda stream it cuts my costs down dramatically and I can enjoy any type of carbonated beverage I choose to.  I cannot give you the amount of water I used because I used all the puree and filled my glass to the top. If you wanted to use a smaller glass of the drink, then half the puree would work.
  • A sweetener of choice can be used. I would suggest using sweeteners that complement the taste of strawberries

The recipe I shared with you is really a base recipe for a single serving. You can play with complimentary flavours to add more depth to your drink. Lemon or lime can be added if you like alcohol that can be added as well. All you have to do is use your imagination and get to mixing. Double the recipe based on how many drinks you would like to serve. 2-3 strawberries gave me just enough strawberry flavour for my single-serve drink. The luscious sweetness of freshly picked strawberries makes every sip worth it!
